Dr. Guido Tana
Welcome to my personal webpage
I hail from Italy, and I graduated as a PhD in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh.
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University School for Advanced Studies (IUSS) in Pavia, Italy. I am also Colaborador (external collaborator) of the IFILNOVA Department at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and an adjunct researcher (Cultore della Materia) at the University of Bologna.
My current job takes place within the project "Scientific Disagreement and its Impact on Society", with PIs Dr. Silvia De Toffoli (IUSS Pavia), and Dr. Filippo Ferrari (Bologna).
I have previously been a post-doc Fellow at the ArgLab Institute of IFILNOVA, New University of Lisbon (Portugal), in the FCT-Funded Project "Epistemic Injustice in Public Arguments" where I worked with Professor Nuno Venturinha, Dr. Maria Grazia Rossi. During that time I was also research team member of Dr. Pietro Gori's FCT-Funded Project "Mary Hesse's New Epistemology: Principles and Legacy".
Futhermore, I have been guest lecturer at the Linguistics & Philosophy Department IUSS Pavia, teaching assistant at the PPLS department of the University of Edinburgh, and twice DAAD-funded Gastwissenschaftler, at the Freie Universität Berlin, and at the Universität Leipzig.
I obtained my BA and MA from the University of Pavia, with abroad study periods at the Universität Konstanz and the Freie Universität Berlin.
I work mostly in Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, and History of Philosophy. More broadly, my interests are related to what's known on the continent as Theoretical Philosophy, allowing themes and ideas from philosophy of language, mind, and metaphysics, to influence and contribute to my research topics.
Here's a link to my detailed CV
I was supervised by Professor Duncan Pritchard (University of California, Irvine), Professor Modesto Gomez-Alonso (Universidad de Sevilla, Spain), Dr. Dave Ward (University of Edinburgh) and during a year-long stay at the FAGI-Centre I was supervised by Professor Andrea Kern (Universität Leipzig, Germany).
My examiners were Dr. Beri Marusic (University of Edinburgh) and Dr. Neil Gascoigne (Royal Holloway, University of London).
The PhD was awarded with no corrections.
Apart from philosophy, my interests lie mostly in music, contemporary history, science, politics, basketball, chess, travelling (which academia is so far allowing me to pursue), aviation, and obscure trivia on quite different and peculiar subjects.
